PLURAL
1)   Most of the nouns: +s
Boat – boats,           chair - chairs
2)   Nouns ended in “s, ss, sh, ch, x, z, o” : + es
Bus – buses      dress – dresses      brush – brushes          beach – beaches
             Fox – foxes              buzz (zumbido) – buzzes
·     Consonant + o : +es           hero – heroes         tomato – tomatoes
·      Vowel + o : +s            rodeo – rodeos            patio (patio trasero) - patios
3)   Nouns ended in “y”:
-     Consonant + “y”: disappears + ies        city – cities        story – stories
-     Vowel + “y”: + s         boy – boys          day - days
4)   Twelve nouns ended in “f” or “fe”: change into “ves”

Life – lives
Wife – wives
Knife – knives
Thief – thieves
Half – halves 
Calf – calves (ternero)
Elf – elves (duende)
Shelf – shelves (estantería)
Loaf – loaves (barra de pan)
Wolf – wolves
Sheaf – sheaves (fajo de billetes)
Leaf – leaves (hoja) 

5)   Irregular plurals:

Man – men

  • They are always used with auxiliary verbs

  • Negative sentences, affirmative question tags
